I've finally graduated with Barclays...

I had an Apple account from 9/13 thru 12/14 that was closed when I opened my Sallie Mae.  Back in 2013 they were SPing me every week.

I just looked at my CR's yesterday...  SP on 12/5...

... next SP on 5/5.

Good on you for working hard to get that debt down. Saving is hard when this stuff happens. Keep it up but also don't torture yourself trying to pay everything down.

Re: when to stop apps/ whats considered risky behavior

I hate to be an enabler.... but Have you tried for a CLI from Lowes yet? I think your chances are not that great, but Credit solutions does have some lax standards. Even if you requested a CLI when you opened the account, requesting another after your first payment might not be a bad idea since they are SP. The standard advice is to ask for 25k, but in your case I might only go for 10k. Also, I am assuming RBFCU is reporting for you. If they aren't reporting yet, then I wouldn't worry too much about the statement balance. I just mention it because I opened a LOC last December that hasn't reported yet. But I am sure that CCs are reported more consistently than LOCs.

Not a bad idea, I agree.

Depends on the lender. Some are more stingy than others. But it loks like you should just let your accounts grow, at this step of the game.

Re: when to stop apps/ whats considered risky behavior

GShope,

I got it from my Equifax report from the Equifax site. I Believe that if you check under inquires, you can see the hard pulls that lenders see, and then

Inquiries that do not impact your credit rating

I Tried to Do a CLI will lowes via Chat for 10k and got the 7-10 day notice message on top of a denial

So far  so good. ..am not woried as much as i was initially .

Which cards came from this recent sprees?

App sprees and "pyramiding debt" is generally considered risky behavior (I believe that creditors believe). Try and get your utilization down if you can, but I'm sure you know this already.

Agree completely. out of all your cards. only 1 is not carrying a balance. not only should you get your utilization down. but you need to have as many of your cards reporting a zero balance as possible. 1-2 max should be carrying balance. maybe 3. but thats it. the low limit cards. should never have a balance. to keep your risk level down.

I have heard you need to call Credit Solutions request the CLI.   You tell UW you just bought a house and need to furnish it.  The normal advice I have read on this forums is to call the day you are approved, ask for 25k and they will counter.   I don't know if it really makes a difference between chat and calling CS directly, but the posts are very specific.  The number should be in the back door number sticky.  Good luck!
