2 new CCs and a few CLIs

Hey everyone. Just wanted to post another update on my Credit journey.

It's been 4 months since my last app spree that netted me 4 new cards to my wallet. Since then I've decided to slow it down for a bit since the HPs have started to creep up to an almost unacceptable level. Last month I was able to get approved for two more cards:

Wayfair (SL was $500, immediate luv button CLI to $3500 the day I registered the card)

Old Navy ($400 SL)

I got a preapproval letter in the mail yesterday for a Walmart Card, but upon applying I got a website error and did not receive any indication of approval or not. So far nothing has shown up on my reports in terms of an HP. If approved this will be my final app before heading to the garden for at least 12 months while I work on keeping all my accounts at healthy levels. EDIT: Was approved for $1600!

One other thing I was able to get was a $500 Quick Loan from DCU. I've wanted to have some sort of installment account on my report and DCU was nice enough to pre-approve me for one for being their customer for a few months. 6 month term with $29 in interest fees, not bad. I've pretty much given up on finding a Credit Union that will work with the SSL technique.

Other than that I was able to get some more CLIs on a few of my CCs:

Macy's $600 -> luv button to $2100

Target $300 -> auto-CLI to $600

Amazon $2000 -> luv button to $4000

Last month I was contacted by Synchrony regarding my Marvel Mastercard. Somehow they thought there were unauthorized charges on the card even though they werent and I verified all the transactions. They ended up closing my account anyways for precautionary reasons and opening up a new one and transferring the balance over to it, which ended up causing me to lose 2 months of account age as well as reset my CLI clock, so I wasn't able to request one at the 90 day mark. So annoying.

Also annoying is the fact that not only did Chase not approve a CLI request I did with them for the Amazon VS Card. They decided to hit me with a HP while doing so. I probably should have researched this beforehand, had I known they do HPs for CLIs I wouldn't have bothered until my scores were a bit higher. I'm probably gonna SD this one and hope I get some auto-CLIs on it some day.

I am now 9 months into my Credit cleansing and my scores have been hovering between the 670s and 690s. When I started I was over 100 points lower and had just 2 TLs totalling $400. Now I'm well over the $25k plateau!

Congrats on your CLI's, approvals and your progress in your journey. Keep it up! I would suggest gardening for a few months to get some age on your accounts.

Re: 2 new CCs and a few CLIs

I've gotten to the point where I'm thinking about closing off a few of my TLs.

The CB Indigo card is a no brainer since their insane $99 AF kicks in in 2 months and I've had a 0 balance on that one for a while. Another one I'll probably end up closing soon is the Fingerhut account, since I haven't gotten an auto-CLI on it in almost 6 months and have no intentions on buying anything from them anymore. The only other card I own with an AF is my old First Progress Secured card which is now over 5 years old, but I'm hesitant on closing off my oldest card and the $30 AF really isn't all that bad, but I also don't see the point in carrying a Secured Card anymore since I have better options now.

Your FICO credit scores are not just numbers, it’s a skill.

Congrats on the new additions, and the good CLI's on Macys / Amazon!
