A big congrats! I wouldn't be worried about the tax thing if you already have a Discover card you use and manage well. I think they are just doing that to people new to Discover. I recently got a second Discover myself. My first one was a graduated secured It cash back, whil I am keeping and using. The second one I got was the Miles, for the unlimited 3% back for a year. They started me at $2k, but I am going to use the bejeezus out of the card, so it should grow nicely.
