I received a prequal mailer with a firm APR. I don’t like prequal letters, but this was different as every other letter I had received up till now were invitations to apply. My FICO 8 on Exp was up to 754 so I was scanning these boards for any excuse to pull the trigger. I even called a buddy who works in home loans at Wells and he could only say Wells is very conservative and if I’m approved be proud of it. I spoke to a branch manager who gave me all the ECOA safe answers. I waited a few days. Checked my FICO 9 on my WF app for my mortgage and it was a 739 on Exp. Meanwhile I got an offer for $200 if I opened a checking account.
One thing I found on these boards is that Wells likes to have a relationship established.
So, with a mortgage, checking and savings open and linked I pulled the trigger on the Visa Sgnature Rewards card. Approved $9k SL! The day it popped up on my profile I got another offer for the same card for the same terms.
