I decided to check the AMEX preapproval site and I had a prequal for BCE, BCP and Gold. I decided to go for the BCE and was approved with a SL of $5K. I'm shocked and elated!
AMEX did a HP on EX. FICO8 right before the pull was 740.
Speaking of EX, something is wonky with my utilization. It's showing @ 192%(!!!), but all of my cards are at exactly 2%. Strange. Maybe that will correct itself sometime soon?
I started my credit rebuild journey Aug 2020 after having taken a very long break from credit after a complete financial meltdown in 2008. I feel like I'm making some decent progress. I wanted to ask the experts about AMEX....I had a prequal for multiple cards. Is it customary to take only one or try for multiples? Will it incur additional HP's or work off the same initial HP? Congrats, and welcome to the AMEX family! The BCE is a great card and I hope you get a lot of use out of it. Treat them well and they have the potential to grow like wildfire! Which other card were you thinking of apping for at the same time? I think it's a safer bet to go for a charge card such as Gold/Green/Plat if you're doing a same day app. Personally I wouldn't push my luck right now and go for more than 2 at a time, but that's just me. Most people report that back to back apps generally result in 1 inquiry, but as with all things in the credit world, it's always YMMV. Agreed, I figured 1 credit card and one charge card would be ideal. I pulled the trigger and went with the gold card for my #2. They gave me a 14-day decision message. No additional HP, btw.

Nice! Thanks for the extra DPs! I would call them because 14 day message could mean you triggered ID verification since you rapid fired 2 apps. Would be worth it to check IMO (couldn't hurt either way.) I hope you get it!
