So after getting the chase amazon prime visa approval this morning, I got a little excited and requested amex for a 2x CLI. I had read they do an HP above 25K total CL and seeing my SL was 10K I didn't really want to request a 3x CLI.
Was pleasantly surprised to see an instant approval with a soft pull (New CL = 20K).
Gotta love amex!

Thanks for that Interesting tidbit... I didn't want to push my luck since it was my first CLI ever with any card (It was as if a glowing light shone upon my face seeing that instant CLI approval).
Also, I didn't have a high utilisation as it is.. this will make it under 10% for a considerable time....
For future CLIs, do you mind sharing some additional details about your case?
Apart from following the guidelines and schedule for Amex CLI requests (91 days after denial / 181 after Approval), just make sure your overall credit profile is free from things that spook Amex or any other lender for that matter, i.e., sudden spike/uptick in your aggregate utilization, too many recent inqs and newly opened accts (app sprees), late payments, etc...
They proactively SP and review your acct regularly regardless of your perfect payment history with them. Heck they SP’d my DW’s acct twice a month on her 1st year with them!
And in regard to your relationship with them, Never ever let a “returned payment” happen no matter how accidental as it can lead to AA/acct closure with them.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from experience in managing my DW’s Amex acct and the DPs here on myFICO is that Amex loves handing the 3X CLI to people who PIF or at least pay the Statement Balance especially if you spend enough for them to profit on the swipe fees!
Best of Luck and Congrats again!
Congrats on your CLI!
