Truly Simple APPROVED..........Thank You 5/3!!!

On Thursday I was minding my own business enjoying this cool South Florida breeze, when I received a plain white envelope in the mail.  Normally these go in the garbage, but out of curiosity, I opened it. Unbeknownst to me, it was a pre-approval from Fifth Third Bank for their  Truly Simple Credit Card. The offer was 0% APR for 15 billing cycles and a range of 13.24 to 24.24 after. I had been checking my reports a few days ago and noticed that they SP my TU, which got no love after my mini spree last month. I allowed a balance to report in error, which caused my TU to drop 20 points to 693 Fico 08, with 10 inquiries. Well, I said, "why not what's the worst that can happen". 

Before I hit the submit button, I did my research on the forum to see others experiences with them. From what I gathered, their pre-approvals are solid. Fast forward, I hit submit and got a message that said, "Thanks for applying............when you receive your card". Huh?!?"However, it didn't say approved and just said to call with any questions. So I did an hour later. They told me to check back in 24 hrs. My TU was pulled at midnight, per my alert. Like clock work, I was back on the phone the next day.  The very nice rep took my information and placed me on a brief hold. About a minute later, he came back with, "Congratulations, you have been approved for the Truly Simple Credit Card.........your credit limit is $5,000!!!" 

I had to play it off and remain calm, cool and collected. But inside, I was screaming. This is my highest limit so far, All I can say is you guys ROCK!!! Thank you for sharing your stories and experiences, along with so much wisdom and encouragement. 

Funny thing though, here in S. Florida, 5/3 won't allow you to apply for banking or a credit card unless you go to a branch. I guess pre-approvals are the exception. I'm on my way baby!!!

First off, congratulations!!

It’s a very vanilla card, but the 15 month 0% is pretty nice if you have the need for it! PLUS, it’s the only GREEN CC that I have. LOL

This is a lot like my approval a few months ago for the same card. But, I had apped in branch a few weeks earlier and was declined due to inq. I got the mailer with the code, and got the same message that you did. Called 2 days later and spoke with a CSR, and they told me the SL..$15k... wow..not bad at all!

Got a preapproved mailer for Trio yesterday... went to the website... entered code... same thing.. guess I’ll call on tuesday and see what the SL is


So, it’s not just me that gets the message that you have to apply in branch? (I’m in the Tampa area)

Synovus is also the same, with the in branch only apps...

Thanks so much fltireguy! Your experience with them helped me decide. Nope, you’re not the only one. So, it’s statewide then? I’m curious as to the APR they gave me. I guess I have to wait. Stay warm over there.
