Off topic Question. How do you get your cards to display at the bottom of your messages. I can't find anything in the settings?

Check your PM.
Oddly enough, I've had my AMEX Every Day card for not even a month with a 1K limit.
Today I got an email inviting me to apply for a AMEX Gold Card with no impact to my credit to see if I was approved, I was like no way but what the hell.
To my surprised, I was approved!! After I got it added to my existing Amex account, just a little confused on what the "No Set Spending Limit" means. I used the Check Buying Power and just put in 1K to see and it said I was approved. So do I need to do this everytime I plan to make a purchase since there is no set defined CL?
Good question on charge cards with no posted limit. I haven't had on in many years. What's the annual fee on gold?

No, you do not need to check for every purchase. I have a green card npsl. I put in $35k and it said approved. I believe that means I could make a single or cummulative purchases up to that amount without denial. It's not a CL. I tried $50k as well and it said approved although AMEX lists my pay over time (POT) limit at $35k.
My understanding from a poster who worked for AMEX is the company frowns upon card holders that frequently check buying power. Not sure why.
You are new to the card so your buying power might be on the low side. Nonetheless, I'd suggest plugging in $5k to give you some spend flexibility. If approved, use that as your short term CL. After 6 months of card use try $10k for buying power. At some point AMEX will probably give you a POT limit which you can look at as a psuedo CL.
Buying power on the cards is often higher than the POT limit. That just means spend over and above the POT must be paid by statement due date. Anything under POT can be carried over to the next billing cycle sans the minimum payment. I don't use the POT feature - the interest charges are sky high.
Congratulations on your Amex approval!
Congrats on the approval!
What credit score does one typically need to be approved for an AMEX? That is on my list of goals. I won't be applying until after I've closed on a home later this year.
@jmonye21 there's been approvals for their charge cards, Platinum and Gold, seen here with scores in the 670s to 680 range. For their revolvers I'd recommend being 700+.
Obviously the higher the score and cleaner the history improves one's chances. Their soft pull pre-approval tool, while it won't show you a credit limit, is pretty reliable.
Cool. Thanks.
