AMEX Gold Approval! How might this affect my score?

So a few data points.  Current score is 804.  3% utilization on $195k available credit.  I have 1 personal account credit card, 1 personal loan and 2 business credit cards with AMEX.  This would be my first charge card with them.  I usually pay in full and don't carry a balance.  My personal credit card has a $12k limit. My business cards have $22k limits each.  I have been pre approved many times for Gold and Platinum cards and I put the application in for the Gold mainly because of the 4x points on dining that I currently use a Cap One Savor for at 3%.  Since this is a charge card how does this affect my credit score if I accept?  No credit limit so this won't help my utilization correct? Will it hurt it?  I thought I read somewhere the credit report will show that card at 100% utilization for whatever amount is reported...true?  Just want all the information before making a decision.  Thx!  Also just checked my bonus offer.  It's 60,000 bonus points for $6k in spend in 6 months.  On the website it's "up to" 100,000 points welcome offer.  Should I call and try and negotiate that? I have had Amex call me and they told me some agents can get the best welcome offers.  Any experience in getting the max offers from AMEX?

In your other post you said you're spending about $1,500 a month on the Savor. If that's all in Rest. & FF, at 3% that would be $540 cash back annually. At the Gold's 4% that spend would yield $720 . After subtracting the $325 annual fee that's reduced to $395 or $145 less than you're getting now with the Savor.

Yes but the AMEX gold has other perks that I will use that will offset the annual fee.  There is $240 in food credits amd another $200 in hotel and travel credits alone every year.   That will offset the annual fee and then some.

Re: AMEX Gold Approval! How might this affect my score?

The charge cards have no limits so there is no effect on UTI but any balances would report.

If you can spend $15,000 in three months, there is a 200,000 MR offer on the Gold you can inquire the Agent about...

Earn 100,000 200,000 Membership Rewards® Points

after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases on the Card in the first 3 months of Card Membership.† This offer may not be available if you leave this web page and return later.

PS, I may request that this post be moved to Applications area.

Re: AMEX Gold Approval! How might this affect my score?

Charge cards can be tricky, I'd be weary. It's pretty common to get 100k membership points that are from targeted offers, like mailers. I'd check around. Keep in mind, Amex does set a soft limit (tho I'm not sure if they report it)

Marriott PR$25k | BCE $24.5K |BankAmericard Visa $25k| BOA Better Bal $17.5k |Wmt Discover $12.5k | BR Visa $17.5k | Amex Delta Gold $10k | Discover IT $10k | Paypal Extras MC $15k | Amazon Store $10k|Smile Gen $7.25k | Dillard's $10k | West Elm $4k| Express $3.05K | Mypoints.com Visa $4.5k | Freedom Visa $1k| Amex Surpass $1k
