I opened up a checking account with BofA on 5/15, both to snag the $200 new checking account offer they were offering and to establish a relationship with them. Once my second $1,000 check processed yesterday on 6/13, I applied for the AS visa siggy again after getting the derogatory account from Ford Credit removed that caused the denial when I applied last October. They only pulled EX, and I got a message that they're working on the application and will call me if they need info. Because I didn't get an auto-denial like last time (and adding the fact that I have a fraud alert on my reports), that I rectified the issue that caused them to deny my last application for the card, and the fact that I now have a deposit account with them, I am remaining extremely hopeful that if/when BofA calls to verify the application I will be approved.
Will update this post when I get any updates from BofA! Wish me luck!
Best of luck to you! 🤞
Fingers crossed
Good luck!
Hope it works out for you.
Here's a little fun fact..
When I applied for the Alaska Visa I was intially denied, and I saw some people online say that they value relationships, so I opened a checking account and deposited $100 into it, and called back to recon. The guy was like "honestly, I rarely see these overturned, but sure I'll do it for you" put me on hold for like 5 minutes, came back and said something along the lines of "well I see that there's a new checking account opened for you that was open when you initially applied, and we've actually approved you for $7k"
Definitely would say that relationships with Bank of America would be beneficial.
Welp, no word as of yet. The app status is still "in review" online, and there are no messages via the BofA app, no text messages, and no emails from them either. If I still haven't heard from them by tomorrow, would it be worth giving them a phone call to see if I can clarify anything? I am flying to Disneyland on Alaska on Thursday for Pride Nite, and was hoping to use the card inflight to purchase some snacks and drinks to take advantage of that 20% rebate. I'd be more than willing to pay a fee to overnight the new card.

I would call them bc it may be something for verification. When I opened my 3rd BoA card this January, I got the review message but then I received a call about 4 days later asking if it was in fact me that had applied. For my initial cards, I didn't need to verify anything when I applied. I do believe that their fraud systems have been a bit "active" lately. Considering your upcoming trip, I'd call ASAP. Best of luck.

Welp, both of the phone numbers in the master list marked as recon are officially dead. Currently waiting on a call back from BofA to discuss this (hopefully).
Welp, no dice. Got the call back, got transferred to sales. Strangely they said my language preference was missing, and that was fixed. Outside of that, she said that there is no way to speak with an underwriter or notate the application that I called to verify the application as legitimate. Encouraged me to keep checking on the application status tool, and stated that a decision could come today or later this week. Mentioned how Wednesday is a federal holiday, so there will be no decisioning on that day (but said that I'll hopefully get an answer beforehand). Gotta keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
