Amazon Prime CLI denied based on outdated info? - Update Approved

First of all - Hello there, I’m new here and have never posted before but I have been lurking around for a few years and you guys have helped me improve my credit score from about 549 up to 720 so THANK YOU!!!!

Now on to the point of this post - I have had an Amazon Prime store card for 3 years. The limit started at $600 and now has been at $2100 for a little over a year. I recently clicked the request increase button on my account page and was denied. ☹️

I received the denial letter in the mail today and the letter says that I was denied because of high balances and it says they made that decision based on TransUnion report from early June. I did have high balances for a couple months earlier this year but I paid them all off at the end of June and have been paying my balances since then. My total utilization as of this moment is well under 10%.

I’m just wondering is it typical for them to pull an out of date report? Is it likely that I would have better luck if I called or would it be better if I just wait?

Search for the backdoor numbers thread the call the Overseas Credit Solutions number for Synchrony. They do updated SP CLIs over the phone.

Welcome to the FICO Forums!

It's not an "out of date report". Most credit card companies do periodic Soft Pulls (usually monthly) to monitor your credit. Some of them base CLI decisions on those SPs. When you ask for a CLI, they simply look at the most recent SP they have on file.

If you know the date they typically SP your credit, you can time your CLI requests accordingly.

Re: Amazon Prime CLI denied based on outdated info?

Even though Synchrony provides monthly updated FICO 8 scores in the online account that does not always update in their internal system.  My score increased on the online application and waited 7 days and requested a CLI and denied.  When I got the letter it provided the same 06/26/18  credit report which had high UTL.   I called the over-seas number and they advised they could do a SP since the info was 45 days old...declined since I no longer needed the increas on my Lowes card.  Hope this helps!

Thanks everybody! I waited a little over a month before requesting an increase again and this time I was successful! they increased my limit to $5k. ::happy dance:: 😄
