Amazon Store Card Approval with a rocky history with Synchrony

It's been quite a while since I posted in the forums here  so thought I would give an update.

I had been having problems finding information about getting the Amazon Store card again after having it CO'd. I had my Amazon Store Card CO'd in June 2016 for right around $4,100 (don't remember the exact amount off hand, but the CL was $5,400). My Lowes Store Card was also CO'd at the same time for around $5,000. Both were sent to collections to Portfolio Recovery. The Amazon Card debt was paid off to them in Nov 2017 and the Lowes debt was paid of March of 2020.

Sychrony closed my PayPal credit account in May 2020 (was not ever given a reason why). It had been opened since May 2018. I had never missed a payment on that account and was always in good standing on it. I was at $1,400 out of $2,500 on the account for utilization (was a few purchases with 0% interest) which have always been PIF before interest kicked in.

Today I decide to apply for the Amazon Store Card. I was instantly approved for $2,100. I was a bit surprised that I got approved, much less an instant approval, especially considering my history with Synchrony.

I also applied for a CLI on my NFCU Amex which I am waiting to hear back on. Also tried my luck with the NFCU CLOC, but was denied for a 2nd time. Someday I'll get that one.

Very impressive. Fyi, having those chargeoffs of Synchrony accounts , especially so recent, would be enough to close your Paypal account for risk management on their part, regardless of payment history.  Getting back in so soon is great but definitely  treat Amazon card / Sync like a PIF account so were they to close you out again, you arent left holding the bag.

I kind of assumed the PayPal credit closure might have to do with those CO'd accounts I had previously with them, but I figured if they were going to close that account it would have been when Synchrony took over PayPal credit, but they decided to wait some time later to do it.

Yeah that is my plan with the Amazon card. Granted that with what I still owed on the PayPal account (still 0% financed) will be paid off next month anyways. I'm likely going to only use the Amazon Card for future larger purchases anyways.

Congrats on the Amazon store card!

I have learned the hard way that the NFCU CLOC now seems to have a SL of $500 and every time I asked for more (3 different times), they didn't counter, just denied it.  Best of luck with the CLI request. They are pretty backed up right now so it may take a few extra days! Please let us know the outcome and I'm sending good thoughts for your success!!
