Read a thread where someone was talking about being approved for an account but was too embarassed to call recon to ask for a higher limit. This person received a reply from Existentialist stating:
"No reason to ever feel embarassed about recon. Think of it as just another tool to assist U in attaining your goals. Automated technology may be responsible for your initial app but the human element can increase not only your chances for approval but increase an initial CL exponentially. If U can adjust the way U view being denied (which is more than commonplace in the credit game) then u may feel more comfortable next time you're confronted with the prospect of using recon.
Just something to consider."
So I took Existentialist's advice, called Amazon and did a cli request. Original limit was $1400, asked for $5000 to make room for a counter, rep had me on hold for a minute, came back on and said "Congratulations, your new credit limit of $5000 will be available within a few minutes. Awesome!
