Re: Amazon prime Visa approved with low limit. Recon?

Recon was a no go. Said I'd get a letter within 30 days.

Will this card grow? Or should I just close it? Without using it.

Why close it? It won't hurt to keep it and it will grow with responsible usage.

I would keep it and consistently use it. You already took the HP and the new account will still report even if you close it and never activate the card. I would suggest waiting at least six months before asking for a CLI.

First off, its very sad that you received such a low CL which is very hurtful and disappointing. And I can completely understand your pain and frustration because I have been in this situation a few times especially a few months back when I got 800s score across the board, less than 1% utilization and very good credit when NFCU gave me only $1k SL on my second CC, but on the other hand I have had $50k CL....and WF gave me $1k only on a new card, while I have $75k on their other card. So, I completely understand your frustration as well.

Secondly, you should know that we are talking about Chase here, and not about other banks especially Capital One; otherwise I would even come on here to comment anything. What that means? It meant that CLI wont be hard. First, they do SP for CLI. So, it won't be any harm if you don't get it. Secondly, if you show tons of activities on their cards then you will automatically get CLI or upon request. Chase is very generous on granting CLI if its cards are used enough.

If I were you, I will NOT close this account given you have already burned an inquiry. Besides, closing this card/account will not serve any benefit to you. However, I would suggest you to make this card as your daily-driving card for everything. Forget about any other cards especially Capital One (which would never grow after certain level). If you use the Chase card all the time, you will be surprised how quickly and how high CLI you will receive. I have seen on many other sites similar to this that people who had CL $1K and within 3-4 months Chase automatically increased CL on their card to $15k....Chase does issue CLI very high...most of the times auto...but you can always request CLI at any time since it would be SP...So, no harm in there asking every month or twice a month. But since your card is just opened and this is your first Chase card then I would request CLI after 6 months of its opening. Good Luck....

If you use the Chase Amazon Visa, it *will* grow...

Initially some folks got a higher limit than was on the inital approval screen in their email... I did not...

pretty much use it hard .... and have gotten a few CLIs...

It's worth the patience...

Definitely do not close it. Start using it, show them why that limit is too low.
