Re: American Express 3X CLI Cautionary Tale

Looks like Amex is stalking you with those pulls! Literally 1 day between many pulls.

Re: American Express 3X CLI Cautionary Tale

That's kind of how I felt when I scrolled through the SP section of my reports as well.  Not sure if it's just checking the FICO they provide or if they're really being anal about things.  It's not a new account by any means at this point since it was opened in 2015.

Re: American Express 3X CLI Cautionary Tale

Last week an amex csr told me cli can only be done every 60 days. Cuz I tried for an increase 2 weeks ago. They pulled the right score.

Re: American Express 3X CLI Cautionary Tale

The CSR gave you incorrect information (not really surprising). AMEX considers all your cards as a single account and you can only get a CLI every 180 days regardless of the number of Amex cards you have.

Congrats and thanks for sharingSmiley Happy

Im of personal opinion that there goes way too much into trying to decipher Amex approvals based off Score updates or trying to time it just right. If one looks at the general profile before apping one can have a general idea if they are in the boundaries for an approval. So much more goes into the approval than just a score. You saw this yourself where you just received a 3k increase yet only a $1400 sl on a new card. Amex has tapped your internal limit to be x for now based off score, credit history, income, etc. Just try not to overthink it , it will drive you nuts lol. Just my very average pennySmiley Happy

Congrats on your increase

Dont worry about repeating something that's already been said. If we waited for something new, we'd have 1 post a week, maybe.

Keep up the good work.

Well I hadn't seen any. So my apologies for trying to share information that I had not come across on here, despite having read a lot of threads.

I've read a lot of threads too (over 75,000 page views according to MyFico). Until your post I'd had no idea AMEX used old reports like Cap1 does. So Thank You! for informing me.

It seems to me your approval thread was not designed to take a victory lap because of a recent success -- not that there's anything wrong with that -- but rather to share details of your recent credit experience to further inform this community. I applaud your original post.

And Congratulations! on adding another AMEX card. Surely, over time, it will grow.

That is precisely why I started this thread--not to brag about the approvals, but rather to share my experience and some information that I was unaware of, despite reading a LOT of threads on here (which is how I got to where I am now in the first place, thanks to this community).

And thank you!
