American Express CLI score question

I opened an American Express BCE card on June 20th and requested a CLI on June 26th it was declined for being new and no experience with the account. My Experian score at the time was 703, there was however a two year old erroneous collection on the report that I was unaware of. I have since had that corrected. My current Experian score is 766. I just checked my account and they are showing my FICO score as 680 as of September 1st but I checked Experian’s backdoor today and saw an inquiry on the report listed as

American Express 2   PO Box 981537 El Paso, TX 79998                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       dated September 17th. I would like to request a CLI today does this mean they would base their decision on the new score of 766 or would the use the 680 which showing on their website.

Re: American Express CLI score question

Typically decision is based off last soft pull they have on file for you.

FWIW I was denied CLIs my first full year with Amex for being too new to them.

Re: American Express CLI score question

Wait until the free Amex Fico score updates on your account. Then and only then should you ask for a CLI. Anything would be premature.

Just wait for them to update your Report. Which will be for October 1 if that is case. Then Boom. You are in like Flynn. Smiley Very Happy

So you believe they will soft pull my credit report again before they update their website and use that instead of the one they pulled on September 17 or they just won't recognize the score change until they update their site.  Thanks for the advice.

Re: American Express CLI score question

Whatever your score is on the statement date, regardless of when the new score posts, is the score that will be shown on your account. I would assume that's the score they will use. My statement date was Friday which was also the day I could apply for a CLI myself. I'm waiting for my Amex Fico score to update sometime next week, then I'm going to hit the CLI button. I know what my EX score is from CCT.

We're in the same boat.

Re: American Express CLI score question

Congrats...so was that a 3x CLI? Is your new score showing on your account? Is that the only Amex you have with them?

My starting limit was 6.5K I opened it on 6/20/15 the 3XCLI was for 19.5K and immediatly approved.  My new score is still not showing on their website and the BCE is the only card I have with them.

I believe the 90 day rule is still in effect. You have to wait at least 90 days after a denial to request another CLI. If I'm wrong, others will chime in to correct me.
