Hello All,
I just got approve for an American Express gold without spending limit. Iam very new to this kind of cards and dont know how to use it. what is the best way to build your credit with this card? Thank you
Congratulations on your approval. Amex will approve what you can charge on the card based on your spending patterns and payment history. No preset spending limit, doesn't mean no limit. If the amount you try to charge is too much, they'll decline the transaction, so, I'd recommend not trying to make extraordinarily large purchases right from the start.
You can try their "check spending power" feature before a planned purchase, but, I've heard using it too often can set off red flags with them.
Congratulations on your Amex Gold approval

Very true- a friend of mine was a little too cocky showing off and requested 3 different "check spending power" with 5k intervals- 3 days later his internal limit and POT was slashed by 75%. OP, I also experienced an alert last month on my platinum that was "suggested payment" due to closing in on my internal limit despite having nothing on POT- they do monitor spend and payments ( I had over 20K last month due to taking on some of my dads final expenses) and will let you know if you are approaching territory they are not comfotable with. Best advice I can offer is spend within your means, and PIF even if you have a POT balance
That’s Terrific!! Congratulations on your Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂
Pay it off every month 10 days before the due date. Don't carry anything... credit reports revolve around "credit" and "debt" a charge card is only a "debt" card in the eyes of the creditors. When it reports you're only going to see debt and high balances, you won't see "available credit" which would off-set the debt. NPSL doesn't mean a free for all... be responsible! Enjoy the perks
