Call customer service and ask them about it they might have to transfer you to online services. I always assumed though if you were approved online you should have been able to create your new online account right then without the card but it's been so long for me I honestly can't remember.

To create a new account now, you are required to have both the card number and the CID (for personal cards). Business cards (without CID) only require the card number and billing ZIP. At least this is what this particular CSR stated.
As I menitoned in my previous reply (before I saw your post come in), Amex is working on the issue still.
If its really an "issue" they have been working on it since last August when I re-opened an Amex account. You have to have the actual card in hand to open an online account because the CID on the temporary card is different from the one on the physical card.
But you can add any subsequent cards before receiving them by using the CID of an active card. I thought that was a bit odd.

I dont have a card, so which number would be the most direct to ask about the locked status? Just the main customer service number?
Anyone else have this happen to them?
