Congrats!! I just app'd BCE and was approved as well. It feels good to be in the Amex family doesn't it? If I can ask...how did you find out your limit right away?

Yeah I am thinking I have a really good shot but agree with the first reply I have heard Barclays will lower or possibly close accounts if you open too many too soon... Honestly I hate to lose Barclays right now.... I'm right at the 6months mark but have been told anywhere from 6-12 months they could lower or close my account. The delima I'm in lol...

I think that is on a case-by-case basis.  I opened my Barclaycard in March 2013 along with one of my other cards in my siggy.  All other cards in my siggy came between July 2013 and December 2013.  No adverse action from Barclays.  In fact, I have gotten two cli's from them.

Ya 12njoy....I love hearing this, I have seen you post this before when someone says to watch out for Barclays.....and love that you are living proof that Barclays is cool.

Barclays is the only card that I've applied for that I haven't gotten.

The recon person I talked to was very nice, but still said no.  The last late payments I had on the report they pulled (EQ) were 5 years ago, and my file was clean other than those.  FICO was over 700.   The only reason for the denial was lack of revolving history, which was indeed under 1 year.  Lesson learned.  Will try again in a year, maybe.

Congrats to the OP on the approval!

800+ for all 3 CRAs.

Call 1-800-567-1083, and select "App Status".

It's automated.

Will tell you your credit limit, but not your interest rate.  Congrats!

Well I pulled the trigger. Got instant approval with 1000 starting limit. Smaller then all my others I will admit the starting limit is kind of disapointing but it got my foot in the door and that is what I was shooting for. Gardening until atleast Nov now.

Congrats.  Remember in 61 days you can ask for a 3x cli ($3,000) then in six months from then another 3x cli request.  All SP's. You can be at $18,000 in 8 months.

Congrats OP and +1 to 61 day CLI!

Re: Amex BCE Advice

Congrats on your BCE, its probably the best general use card. Advice, make sure you go into the website and on your profile find where you can adjust your yearly income. Make sure its at the right amount. They denied me the 61 day CLI until I figured out that was the problem and got it fixed. They were nice about it.
