Last Sunday at 1am I applied for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred. No pre approval but already an Amex business card (Amazon) holder since 2018. I got the dreaded "we'll get back to you", so I thought I was denied.
I wondered why because my Transunion is 787 and Experian 780. They did a hard pull on both. (UGH). Hadn't applied for any new cards since April 2020, but did apply for CLI on the Amex business card a year ago and was denied due to low usage. No biggie I didn't need it - I was just curoius. Other cards I already have are Discover, Amex Biz, Syncrony HSN card, Capital One, Chase biz card, Td Bank, and two Citi cards.
Later that afternoon I get an email saying Amex approved me for $6k. I was hoping for $10K since Discover CL is $13 K, but I'm guessing it was due to a mediocre salary of $45K and $15K in assets.
Funny part is I only applied for it because I was PO'd at NFCU because they said I qualify for Flagship checking acct, but kept saying that the Id I uploaded either was not received or then received but not legible. Yes I know that's apples to oranges but sometimes even a little win can make the day brighter.
Good luck to anyone else trying to win the credit game.
Good info and congrats on the approval!
The HP is interesting, seems to go against most of the DP's that say otherwise. Maybe because it's been 4 years and its an affiliate card?
I'd also be curious to know what triggered the manual review.
Either way, good stuff!

Welp, join the "HP Approval MEMBERS club", we're here but just at a low membership VOLUME- thank goodness. 👍
Congrats on the approval though. That Really would have sucked taking a double hit for a denial so....yippee!!! You got IT! 👌👏🍺
Hit'em up for the 3x's cli when the time is right.👍
Congrats on your Amex Blue Cash Preferred approval . . . the credit limit will grow!!!
Manual review may have been due to it being 1 am on a Sunday morning and their website might have been doing maintenance. OR it may have been the fact that I had just removed the freeze off of all 3 agencies a few days prior.... Who knows, I'm truly just guessing. LOL

I might ask for the CLI, but only if I can't buy a house this year. Was pre approved for a mtg last year, but couldn't find anything in my price range, so I decided to wait until this year. The house is more important than the CLI
Congratulations on your AMEX Approval!!
