Re: Amex Bonvoy Brilliant Approval

Received an envelope from Amex yesteday, with what I thought was going to be my Amex Bonvoy Brillant card. First thing they gave me a 10kSL ! Which I am happy about a lot better then the $3100 SL in my Aspire and 5K SL got on my BCP. Had gotten a CLI on my BCP card 3 months ago from 5k to 10k, so once 3 months is up for next round gonna try for the 3X CLI on the card. To my surprise I received a SPG Card! In the package was Everything about the SPG card/ some information about the Brilliant caed. Where the card was it stated that my new metal Brilliant card will be arriving soon, they are putting finishing touches on it and to use this card in the meantime. For collection purposes I guess its nice to have a SPG card to add to collection until the Bonvoy Brilliant card comes.

Re: Amex Bonvoy Brilliant Approval

Hey all! Longtime lurker; never posted.

I applied for this on a whim. I wasn't sure which bureau they used (should have read.) They use EXP-8.  I was approved for card with 10k starting limit and my score was 710.  Out of the three bureaus, EXP is my lowest. I am currently 743TU-8 and 720EQ-8.

EXP has been slow to remove negative tradlines associated with (paid) student loans even though I've had them succesfully removed from the other two.

  1. I have a credit union visa 1.5 cash back, 9%APR (not sure how they make money?) and 10k limit when my scores were lower than they are now. I have not inquired about raising this to 25,000 but they seem to keep indicating that they could do that... They use TU-8
  2. I also have CapOne QS with a piddly $6300 CL which they refuse to increase because I dont "spend enough" with them.  I paid this off recently (very small balance) and am just having my gym membership auto-bill to it to keep it active (sock drawered!). I know Cap1 uses TU but I don't know if they use 8 or 9.  They won't tell you either.
  3. I have a Wells Fargo Platinum card that started as secured (for nearly 5 years); I called to close it in November of 2017 and they magically graduated it! It still however, has the same 5k limit it had when it was secured. I have no interest though until Sept of this year so I charged it to 70 percent recently and am leaving it there until I get my tax refund.  After that, the card is getting sock-drawered as they obviously are stingy jerks.  It is my oldest revolving trade line (Opened in 2011) so I don't want to close it.  They use EXP-9.

Other cards I have:

  1. Crate&Barrel Store card (Synchrony) opened in 11/2018 with 1600 limit but now has 5000.00 limit after I called them today to talk about moving it to the MasterCard (they dont do that, you have to apply again).  They use TU-8.
  2. Williams-Sonoma store card (Comenity) opened in 11/2017 with a 500 limit, they upped it to 2500 after 6 months and today I did the automated request CLI with them and they moved it 4500.00. They also use TU-8
  3. Wayfair card (Comenity) -- opened in 11/2018 with 7500.00 limit.; They also use TU-8

Re: Amex Bonvoy Brilliant Approval

I just was approved for this card with a nice SL. My question is I saw somewhere they are still shipping SPG cards and it’s April now. Did you ever get your newly designed metal card?

Re: Amex Bonvoy Brilliant Approval

Yea When I was approved back in Feb I got a SPG card. Actually recently went on to the Amex chat to ask about it when they are sending them out. Pesom said they are randomly now shipping out the new cards to members, but if I wanted the Amex rep said could help expitiete the card so I said yes please. This was about a week or so ago So any day now should be receiving the metal Bonvoy card I’m hoping!. Jump on the Amex chat ask if they can help expitiete metal Bonvoy card.
