Amex CLI Approved

Sunday was 161 days since my last AmEx CLI. It’s worth mentioning that a year ago my exposure with Amex was like $4k. So anyway I had my Hilton Surpass limit sitting at $10k with $10k on my Bonvoy card and $1k on EDP and BCE.

TU is now clean thanks to EE which is why my score is so amazing (sorry I’m just super excited still). EX hasn’t made it there yet so I was apprehensive about the CLI attempt. Anyway, hit $30k and wasn’t denied but got IV. Not interested in giving up my kids information (income under reported as mine alone at $85k instead of $115k family) so I backed out. $27.5k, $25k, more IV. $22.5k was an instant yes.

Not 3x but still my highest limit by over $5k with a 702 EX. What I found most surprising was that $30k was not denied or countered.

Re: Amex CLI Approved

Thanks! You know it! I can’t chase it if I already got it on one. Especially since it was by 25 points and EX and EQ will fall into place as well. 2.5 months left on EX. No one care about EQ here except Citi

Re: Amex CLI Approved

No one here cares about EQ, either. That's why mine is bloated compared to the other two lol

Congrats again, both on CLI and completing 750 race

Re: Amex CLI Approved

Congrats on the nice CLI! But I don't fully understand why so many here are so reluctant to submit to income verification.

My recent AMEX CLI request (from $24K to $48K on my BCP card) generated the 7-10 day message followed by an Email asking for income verification. I submitted the form online and in less than two weeks was approved for the full amount. It was completely painless; I get the sense that AMEX just wants to make sure people aren't lying about their income.

Is there some reason many folks are fearful about verifying their income?

Re: Amex CLI Approved

Because honestly, AmEx, and Lexis Nexis, doesn’t need my children’s SS# and other information. I’d happily give them pay stubs, W2s, bank statements, anything else they’d like. They just don’t need that information to share as they’d like. As I said up thread, I under report my income by $30k.

Re: Amex CLI Approved

Also, my income is public record. They could verify it on their own in about 60 seconds through other means if they wanted.

Hmmm...I suspect you're mistaken about the information AMEX requests for income verification. They only ask for IRS Form 4506-T, which authorizes the release of a tax return transcript. That document doesn't contain most of the personal identifying information you're rightly trying to protect.

Income verification is not a problem.  A 4506-T exposes too much information to AmEx and a third party.
