Amex Delta Skymiles Blue Approval

Let me preface this with: My credit score just got to 670 this week. I burned Amex to the tune of 12k during the last recession.

In spite of that, they just approved me for $1k on the Delta Skymiles card. I skipped a heartbeat when it asked me if I wanted to add an authorized user, it asks that before it tells you you're approved. I was checking for pre-approved offers, this one came up before, but this time it offered me a GOLD CARD of all things as the first choice. Since the Delta card had come up before, I figured that was the safer bet.

Kinda thinking I should have went with the Gold Skymiles - does anyone have experience with converting Amex cards? In a year from now after I've kept them happy...

I would have suggested Delta Gold to start with, but relative to the thrill of being approved for any Amex issued product after a charge off I would still view the Blue as an incredible win. After a year you can request a product change. Amex may or may not offer any bonus to upgrade. You might receive an email invitation to upgrade or may see it in your online account. If not you can just call and ask to upgrade.

We could get into a whole discussion of upgrade vs apply for new card to maximize sign up bonus, but for now let's just bask in the victory of approval.

I agree on skipping the Gold charge card. Annual fee is expensive and there is no option to product change it to any no fee card.
