I also experienced trouble adding mine to my account. I couldn’t add it until I physically received the card.
This is correct. You will not be able to connect a new card to an existing online account for approximately 12 - 24 hours after approval. AMEX still needs to set up all the account and benefits unique to your account, send out the request for card to be cut and mailed and set up credit line for your account in their system. Optionally, you can call CSR and have them link the new account if you are unable to do it online yourself. It gets confusing because AMEX immediately sends out an email congratulating you on the new account and suggesting you to set up our account online (before you can accomplish the task).
I'm able to link my new AmEx cards to my account the same day the cards are approved. At least 3 cards this way. Recently it is the Platinum card. Added within two hours.
Delta was the first time I ran into that issue. I was able to set up a new account with the card, then when I received the physical card I unenrolled it from online management and had no problem adding it to the account with my Platinum, PRG, SPG and Blue. DW had the same problem and we did the same thing for her.
And the card is very much still on the Amex website. If you are Googling for it, it sounds like you may be clicking on an advertised link to the card with a signup bonus - since your browser's cookies let Amex know it's you, they know you are not eligible for that offer since you have the card now.

Ah, you are right. I went incognito and it showed up fine. That was weird because it doesnt work on my phone either. Must be synced with my pc. Thanks! Was wondering why it didn't show up for me anymore, wanted to look at the sign up bonus info again.
