After a few years of rebuilding I was finally approved for my first American Express card, the hilton hhonors. It wasn't a instant approval, instead I received a decision pending message after I appt. I then received a email saying I was approved and welcomed to create a account. At this point I was unsure of the SL. When I logged in it said available credit $1000. I'm good with that for just starting with amex. When I clicked on the user agreement with my information it stated I have a credit limit of $5000. Can anyone help me figure out the difference between available credit and credit limit as amex looks at it? Thanks
Welcome and Congratulations to AMEX!!!
Just from experience - the credit limit you see online is your Temp Credit until you receive and activate your actual credit card. This is to protect your account until you get that card. That's a good thing, whatever is in the agreement will be your final credit

@ Danos880 - Congrates on your Approval & welcome to the Amex Family. Make sure you mark your calendar for the 3x CLI @ 61 Days, run as much as possible thru the card and pif as much as possible. After 61 days you can request a Soft Pull CLI for upto 3x your original credit limit of $5000. Also remember to check the soft inquiries on your Experian Report (look for American Express 2) once your past the 61 days the most recent SP from American Express 2 will be the snapshot & score used for your 3x CLI request.
