Amex Pre-Approval: solid offer?

When I go to the American Express "CHECK FOR OFFERS' site at https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/check-for-offers/ and fill in my information it returns "we have found the following Pre-Qualified Card offers for you."  Before it would say there were no offers. Are these solid offers like Capital One?  Or are they general offers and I will probably be denied?  My EXP FICO from myFICO is 671.  I have 2 baddies, an unpaid collection that falls off next year and a paid-off installment loan that had some late pays in 2014.  Since 2014 everything is perfect with several credit cards and 2 auto loans.  My score is down because my utilization is at 50% due to holiday shopping.

It's a legitimate offer! I had a preapproval for the EDC and was approved instantly.

Re: Amex Pre-Approval: solid offer?

It's offering the Premier Rewards Gold Card, the Green Card, and the Gold Card.  Which is best? They're all charge cards that must be paid in full monthly?

Yes they are all charge cards that must be paid in full each month. Get the PRG. The regular Gold and Green are useless.

Re: Amex Pre-Approval: solid offer?

I took your advice and applied for the Premier Rewards Gold Card and was instantly approved!!! I am so happy to be in the AMEX family because I burned them over 15 years ago.  I'm back in.  I really would have preferred a revolver like Sky Miles or EveryDay card but I'll take what I can get.  Can I call and asked to be considered for a revolver? Or should I use this card for 6 months and then try to get a better AMEX card?

With Amex you can apply for 1 of each revolver and a charge card? But not 2 of the same type?

Ok I will apply for the EveryDay card. I am just sitting here gazing at my online American Express account that I just setup.  I can not believe it!  My rebuilding is paying off!

I got a Prequal Email for the Amex Platinum.. I can afford the $450 AF and I think I can offset the AF with benefits. Just worried about the internal limit. Specially if they can't even grow my 1K BCE limit.

At least on this one they are giving me 6 months to spend 5K for the 50K MR points.

Yea I had rough patch 15 years ago.  But it looks like Amex has forgiven me!  Since my offer only listed the charge card, I think I better not apply for a revolver until a few months down the road.  They might send me an offer later now that I'm in the family!
