Re: Amex Question

It really depends on how badly you need the new card. Like, any new travel plans, shopping spree etc. Also, How many new cards you opened recently? and Num of HP you have on EX mostly?

But, just to be on safer side, You could wait atleast till your first statement cuts so that your app will be an SP if declined and HP if approved.

Re: Amex Question

As far as AmEx is concerned, I don't think there are any restrictions as to how soon you can apply for a 2nd card after opening up your 1st with them.

Whether you should wait would be more of a personal choice based on what your current goals are & your current credit profile, e.g. inquiries, number of recent accounts open, etc.  The more optimal your profile is, the less of a chance of a wasted inquiry....

I do know how you feel though....I've really been itching to app for the SPG myself lately!  Smiley Embarassed

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Re: Amex Question

Thanks for feed back, i actually logged into my current account and asked via chat and they said it has no affect.. i wanted the blue every day preferred because the delta gold sucks for every day rewards.. I app'ed and received a 5k limit, same as my delta gold.. anyone who has seen my posts, i got declined by chase, with 2 recons, and my next highest card is barclays arrival w 1500.. i believe my high limits are due to i had a green card with amex 10 years ago that i was good with.. Im also looking for both of these cards to report as 10 years old, which would be huge for my average age of accounts with the backdating!!!!

I doubt if statement cutting would have any impact.   That's more for reporting to the CRAs, here Amex knows OP is already a member.
