Hi folks
Just wanted to double check if the above still holds true. That if you're an existing cardholder Amex does SP on denial and HP on approval?
I tried to do a PC but Retentions and Exec office told me to app instead and then call in. I put in the app yesterday , got the 7-10d message. Their site still says its in progress but I got an alert from EX that Amex posted an inquiry. I'm wondering if this hints at an approval coming my way? (Btw I didn't call recon line but called exec office back to let them know my app is submitted). Thanks
That's the way it 'usually' works but there have been reports of people being HPed for denials so YMMV.
Sounds like an approval.. Best of luck
Hi guys. thanks for your repplies. Just got an email alert from Amex that "Your Card Application has been Rush Approved!"
I'd like to find out what my limit is and see if i can bump it up via transfering some existing lines over. I seem to remember that you need to wait for the recieving account to be 30d old before it can receive a transfer but hoping i can do this as part of the approval process. It's for the EDP card, which is going to the top of my rotation for its MR earning potential.

Congrats on the approval. Can't you see your limit on your AMEX account page or is it not showing up yet?
just called new accts dept and found out: $20,000 limit. whoa!
That's now double my highest limit, which was $10k (United Club Card, which was 8k originally plus $2k that i moved over to it).
Now just to see what to do with my Amex PRG card. I originally called Exec office to see if i could get a retention offer or a PC to an EDC but all i got was a 5k MR gesture and advice to apply for the EDC if i wanted.
Now, after a HP i have the EDP card, with the 15k MR after $1k, plus i still have the 5k points that exec office gave me. (E.O. offered me either $50 statement credit or 5k MRs. TOok the MRs as I value them more than $50, plus I figured i could still close the card after some time and the MRs are mine as long as i keep another MR product)
Any advice on what to do with the PRG? My AF just posted so i have 60d to close it down. Is there any point of holding out for another retention offer? or might as well close it down before my statement is due and save myself the $175 AF
I also have the platinum card, which is coming up for renewal in about a month and I will be calling retentions for that one as well. (i've put roughly $14k on the PRG and $16-17k on the platinum card last year).

let me give you guys some other data points:
Additional Amex Cards: Platinum and PRG; Amex did an AR for me last year (too many cards opened within few months) after which they put hard limits on my charge card, 5k and 3k
Plus I have 3 other cards with combined limit of $16k. Last fall I tried to do a 2x or 3x CLI but got denied as Amex quoted the AA as being the reason. so i always imagined that i would need to wait at least a year before i see the hard limits drop from the charge cards before amex gives me more credit.

How many cards did you open in this few month to cause a AR? And what is this short time considered?

GREAT, congrats on your Amex approval
