So I just apped for the SPG card and was told I will be informed by mail of the results. I assume this is a denial?

Could be a standard "not instantly approvedl" msg. Give some time and check the status later on tonight or so and see if the status has changed.  Otherwise you could give the new account dept a call and they can tell you.

How often do they not approve instantly and then approve within the 24 hours?

Many members here in the forum can testify how many times i've applied last year just to get my foot in the door w/ AMEX (20+ apps).  Always got the same msg, even on the status check page.  Call the New Dept and they may be able to tell you.

Re: Amex question

Just called in and there was some sort of fraud alert on the app, which was never really explained to me. Then they approved the card with a credit line of 2k (my lowest credit line of all cards), which is a bit annoying since my other amex revolver is 17.1k credit line and I would want to spend most my money on the spg. I guess its fine though since I will go for the 3x CLI in 61 days and if I get the full amount it will get me up to 6k (still not great but should be enough on a monthly basis. How difficult is it to move credit lines between amex cards? In any event I am forcing myself into the garden until 2015. Summary for 2014 (3 new amex cards, a CSP,  ink bold and a citi AA exec card so six cards total in 2014 seems like a decent haul).

WTG Congrats on your approval.  I wouldn't worry about the small limit to begin with...you know it can grow w/ you in no time. Smiley Happy

One (fairly) firm rule is that the card you are transferring the limit FROM must be at least 1 year old.  A more flexible rule is that the card getting the limit should be 60 days old.

It may be available on line (under profile) or you can call a rep.   Has to be approved, and they ask your income.  We don't know why.

ROFL. That is probably the first question that comes to everyone's mind. Why? heh

Re: Amex question

Congrat on your approval.  Some consider the SPG the best travel card.
