I'm about to apply for my first Amex. I'm a little sad because I was prequalifed for the Amex PRG and get 50k points after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months. I just checked the prequalifier again and they replaced that offer with the Amex Everyday with 15,000 points. I'm sad because I wanted those 50k points - is there anywhere else to get them?
From my understanding, you only qualify for any sign up bonuses like that once from Amex, right?
And lastly, I'm going to go for the Everyday card, I guess... I see everyone tell people to go for a charge card if I'm approved, right? What card should I go for? It looks like they all have an annual fee. I see some that say the annual fee is waived for the first year... but would I qualify for that becuase it'll be my 2nd card and I'm not sure if that's a sign up bonus or not?
THANK YOU!![]()
Darn, I applied before reading your response. I applied for the Amex Everyday for the 15k points and got a credit limit of $3500. Then I applied for the Gold Rewards (it was 1 pull as far as I can tell), for 15k points and annual fee waived for a year. I'll close this next December.
I hope that PRG offers me the 50k points sometime in the future? I was reading that you can get the rewards once per card - not once per member?
I might try for another charge card in January so I can backdate it?
I also applied for a Chase freedom (pulled Experian, also) and received a $2,000 limit.
Fico scores are in the 660-670 range. I stupidly let 4 cards report a balance and my utilization is about 30% because of all the Christmas shopping.

Congrats on your approval. Yes, the rewards are per card.

My AAOA is around 2 years. I opened 9 credit cards since March... So a lot of new accounts. I only had 2 inquiries on Experian, tho. I have 1 unpaid collection from 2008.
