My heart went thump, thump, thump. I got an email from Discover and the subject line was, "Regarding Your Recent Credit Line Increase Request." The first thing that came to mind was, "Oh no, are they asking for a 4506-T?"

So, before opening the email, I mentally went through scenarios:

  • Will I provide one? What a dilemma.
  • I want my $22.2K Discover card.
  • I dont want to lose Discover if I don't comply. I want to do a BT end of January before my offer expires.

So, the answer I came to was that I would surrender one since there's no family information on my tax forms that I need to be concerned about, no medical information, no investments, etc. Actually, with the exception of my mortgage interest deduction, my 1040 is quite boring.

So, the decision was made and I opened the email.

(Mod cut-upon close examination your personal info is still legible, you can repost the email after it is completely blacked out)

Wipe sweat from brow 😂. Whew! The things we take ourselves through. Well, at least now I know what my decision will be if I'm confronted with this.

Thanks Mod and randomguy1.

Congrats on the CLI. That makes 3 of us on this forum with a 22.2K CL on DISCOVER IT.

Hi and thanks for the congrats.

When did you get your card?

What is your CL?

How much spend are you putting on the card?

In your decline letters, does it say insufficient experience or something to that affect?

I have had the card since april, 4700 SL, spend 1000-1500  a month on fuel. PIF every month on auto payment.  insufficient experience is the only reason ive ever recieved, I hit the button every month when the bill posts.

Re: An email from Discover

If you like the card, keep it. I had my DISCOVER since 2015. I asked for a CLI in September or October.  Got a $4K increase. Tried it again 2 or 3 weeks later. Got rejected due to insufficient experience.

Sounds to me that a long relationship with DISCOVER gets you larger CLs. It actually grows with time itself.

They want to get to know you better. Its like you're asking for marriage from someone you've only known since April lol.

Actually, I was just being funny because there have been a few posts about Discover asking for 4506-T on secured CCs, which most feel is ludicrous and don't understand the reason behind such a request. So I was thinking "uhoh" are they coming asking us who ask for CLIs 😆
