Another NFCU auto-CLI

Very thankful I found NFCU based on this board's input.  Was lucky enough to qualify, and I couldn't be happier with them.

Opened 10/7/09 with a $14K CL (highest at the time).  Since then I have not requested any increases, and I have gone 14K->16.5K->19.8K->23.8K as of my March 2012 statement.  It has been on roughly the anniversary or half anniversary each time, with a miss at 6 and 24 months.

Just thought I'd share since a lot of posts lately have been asking about auto-CLI's from NFCU.  I have seen many others with the exact same starting limit and the same incremental increases, so maybe their credit tiers have pre-destined CLI's programmed in.  To save people from doing the math, each of these increases is right around 20% of the existing CL.

Hoping to get a mortgage through them soon.  They denied me last year due to a BK7 filed 12/04, discharged 3/05... Wouldn't budge on a "7 years from discharge" stance.... Tomorrow is 7 years exactly, and I will be re-applying on friday with my fingers crossed! :-)

Wow nice! Very jealous...

I hate all the NFCU threads. I really need to figure out a way to join.

jausanka - at 6 month and 24 month miss dates - were you carrying a balance on the card?  Just curious!

Sorry, I meant to post more details but I had to do this "work" thing my boss keeps harping about ;-)

Just about the entire time I have had the NFCU card, I have carried somewhere between a significant balance and a ridiculous balance.  Typically, I have loaded up the card when the 0% BT offer comes up, pay about $500 per month, then transfer more (I have plenty of existing debt to support that habit, unfortunately).  When I first got it, I think I transferred about 8k, but immediately made a big payment so I wouldn't report above 50% util on the statement... I have typically carried between $4k and $7k since, never exceeding 50% util, always paying $250-$500 per month (I just have $250 per bi-weekly paycheck direct deposited to Navy and use it as my payment)...  I used the card intermittently throughout the year for a couple of decent sized purchases I didn't want to pay in full, but the $500 per month payments quickly took care of those balances since they were at the purchase APR and got paid off before the 0%.

I highlighted "direct deposit", since I agree with others who have posited that DD affects your overall relationship with NFCU.

Re: Another NFCU auto-CLI

My NFCU Platinum Visa just took the leap from 19.8K to 23.8K on the March statement also. It is about 3 months shy of my 24 month anniversary. Just got the raise to 19.8K in December. My CL progress has been an exact copy of the OP's. I got the first increase at 6 months and then an increase at 1 year. All have been auto CLI's, no request on my part. I have carried a balance the whole time. Transferred about 4K over during one of their periodic 0% offers. Currently have a 6.5K balance.

I also have direct deposit with NFCU for my payroll along with a small savings account. I have NAVCHEK which I apped for a couple years ago. Started at 5K and late last year asked for and received an increase to 15k. I don't use that account other than to balance utilization on my CR's. I Heart NFCU!!!

Congrats! Smiley Happy

Did they send you an email, or you just saw the increase when they mailed you your statement? I'm very much hoping for an auto-CLI and saw that they did soft me at the end of last month.
