Wow...12K income and 7K CL from Discover...I am puzzled Smiley Surprised. I would work on income before working on CLIs....if you have assets then consider a secured card with 10K but with a 12K income I do not see much of a chance to get a high CL from any lender.

Yes! When i got the card in November 2012 they approved me for 1K with 0% interest till January 2014, so I took major advantage and use it heavily and paid it down and charged it up in a strategic mannor, and they increased my line a few times to what it is now, based on my good history with my credit and my good relationship with them. I have had no problem sweet talking the credit reps at Discover it seems! Smiley Tongue

My BofA Cash Rewards card started out on as a $300 secured card.

I currently live at home with my parents and do not drive yet, so most years my expences are low so i have saved up a bit but not 10k, just enough for about an 8 month emergancy fund as suze orman says we shuld all have.... LOL.... depending on expences i may even have enough for a year.

I also am looking into starting a Roth IRA and may go with Merrill Lynch and dump my cash rewards and balance rewards into it and i told the EO rep this to kind of sweet talk her... lol. Smiley Tongue

I think I need to take lessons from you in sweet talk with Discover Smiley Happy...simply cannot get anywhere with them . Heavy use 60-70% util and PIF did not get me anywhere so far and I have the card now for 15 months...same toy limit....oh well I will give them until I hit the 2 yr mark and then it goes SD.

Have you tried Discover's EO? I've never dealt with them, but maybe if they deny a CLI request the EO could help. Smiley Happy

Not yet. The day the card hits 2yrs I will go ahead with a HP and once they deny  a HP cli I will for sure go the executive route with my frustration with this card. For  the moment I can only shake my head at their explanation that my account is still too new for a cli.

That's ridiculous! I love Discover, but they can be a pain when you're trying to increase your limit. I haven't ever had a SP CLI from them if it makes you feel any better.

Just a miracle happened...tried again this time online for the 3rd time at the 15 months mark and what a miracle...got the congratulaions message Smiley Happy and 2,5K CLI granted..so new CL is 5K. Not sure if SP or HP as I did not see the permission to pull when I did press submit on the first page....it previously always stopped and asked for permission to pull credit and I always cancelled at that stage and the button got disabled for another 3 months. But I have to admit I did not read everything on the page as expected to stop before the actual reply would come.  Fully happy either way...Discover made my day Smiley Happy

ha ha ha your funny! Just tell them how much you love their card and love earning lots of cash back and tell them that they have nice customer service everytime you have called comapired to someone like capital one....lol. (though recently capone has gotten better...lol)

I have talked to Discover EO, about problems i had with their money messenger and their system being down when i went to use it once back before they shut it down all together. I had emailed them and they called just like with the capone eo, but Discover actually posts their phone number for their EO on their website, its their "Executive Office of Customer Advocacy" listed on their "DFS Integrity Hotline" page listed deep on their corporate governance page.

oh and on another note with BofA.... So far no new HP showed up from my recon attempt with the rude credit rep on Thursday. i only see the HP from January 20th. I'll have to keep an eye on it though...lol.

Re: Another try at a cli with BofA.... *** Update ***

*** Update ***

So last night a credit specialist from the EO called to followup with me and review my case and said they can have a credit analyst re review for the increase, and she said she would call me back within 24 hours, she gave me her direct number which was good cuz when she called my phone displayed all zeros, and i told her that and she thought it was strange and i told her "they don't want every tom, dick, and harry calling you up" she laughed a lil and she doesn't mind and the calls are recorded anyways... lol.

So when i got home from work today  i called her as she didn't call me back, and i left her a message. Then 2 hours later she called me back and said she did not hear back from them yet and she said she was having a manager from the credit department look over my request and she was just calling to let me know, and i said to her that i was thinking that if they can't approve my request, how about they just take 2k from my BBR card and throw it in my Cash Rewards card?, I said that I can always get that added back later to the BBR card with more income, more liquid assets and more good credit history. She said she will shoot them an email letting them know that that is an option, and she will call me back tomorrow

So i just logged into my account and my Cash Rewards card is now 5K and my BBR is 1K. Smiley Very Happy My both my accounts still say Platimum plus, so when my lovely rep calls back i will ask for Visa Signature now that my Cash Rewards is 5K. I am also going to ask about the Hard Pulls, as i only see the one that was pulled in January and no new pulls at all according to Discover ID Theft Monitoring. Maybe I'm getting lucky and they are re using the same pull since it's within 30 days? If more are going to show up maybe i can sweet talk them to removing one...LOL.

I'm surrprised that none the analysts didn't offer this when i called, I was considering it as a last resort, which i know they can do as i have seen it on here before, so they were able to do it.

I'll keep you all posted as always so we can see this though together! Smiley Wink
