I decided to go on a little impromptu app spree last week. I knew I wanted the Marvel card for the 3% cash back on entertainment and dining (plus it looks cool), and I decided I might as well app for a couple other "wish" cards while I was at it.
My first app was BCE. I decided to app with them first, since I'd read they're INQ sensitive and wanted them to see the fewest INQs possible. I could never seem to get any juice on their pre-approval link so I just cold app'd. Instant approval for $4000! I've since gotten the card and tried for CLI...no luv. But that's okay. I can wait the 91 days. Should be easy to put the initial spend threshhold through this card.
After that, I was feeling myself so I went ahead and cold app'd for the Venture since I wanted a travel card. Got a 7-10 day message. I figured...oh well, I didn't get that one. ![]()
Then I went ahead and app'd for the Marvel card (all heroes design, since there wasn't an option for Storm and that was the only card with Black Panther on it). Instant approval for $1500. I called them and asked them to increase it to $10,000. They countered with $6000. I was happy with that.
Next I app'd for the Slate through the pre-qual link. I did that one last since I figured I'd get turned down on account of their 5/24 rule, even though I was coming up as pre-qual'd. Got message that my app needed further review and they'd let me know. I took that as a no. LOL
Lastly, I refinanced my auto loan through NFCU. Instant approval, saving me about $100/month. ![]()
I figured this was not a bad day's work. Then later that day I got a call from Cap1 saying they wanted to verify that I was the one who put in the application. They asked me some questions, and I answered them, then they told me "Congratulations! You've been approved with a $5000 credit line." ![]()
Three approvals out of four ain't bad during rebuild, so I did a little happy dance.
My letter from Chase finally came yesterday. I opened it expecting them to tell me the reason they denied me was because I'd opened too many accounts in the past 24 months. Instead, it was a letter from their fraud department asking me to call them and "verify the validity of this application". I called this morning and answered a few questions and...APPROVED for a $7800 credit line!!!! I was soooo not expecting that one. ![]()
So, in the end, I got everything I app'd for and now have my feet planted firmly in the garden indefinitely. (Don't y'all be in here trying to tempt me with your fancy cards and such! LOL). My scores suffered a couple points from the apps, then rebounded right away when then Marvel card reported (two days after I was approved) and the new auto loan reported already. I'm gonna continue to rebuild. My only remaining collection comes off next year and I've got a paid CO that will be there for a long time (unless I can find a way to talk Verizon into dropping it...not holding my breath). I've also got some late payments from 2012 on an old auto loan that I need to GW. The struggle is real...LOL
Summary of my Spree:
AMEX BCE $4000
Cap1 Venture $5000
SyncB Marvel $6000
Chase Slate $7800
New auto loan (added 6 months to my payments and decreased monthly payment by just under $100)
Really great approvals...Congrats to you!![]()

Thanks! I think I'll grow these and the cards I already had for a few years. I'm out of the app game. LOL
