When I submitted the request I knew an increase approval would be iffy! I had just purchased a Mac Studio with upgrades and a Studio Display with an upgraded tilt arm. The purchase was taking up 54% of my card’s limit. I remember a prior conversation with Apple Card Support where they said anytime a person asks for a limit increase and they’re already using 30% or more of their card’s limit it will almost always get denied, but 29% or lower your chances of approval go up drastically!.
Every single time I’ve gotten an increase it has been on the heels of me buying a new Mac. Any other times I’ve asked I've gotten denied for not putting enough spend on the card. I have asked for multiple increases since 5/6/22 and the answer was always the same, denial, not enough spend. So far I hadn’t been willing to spend more on the card because the categories I’d be spending in gave 3% to 6% on other cards but would only garner 1% on my Apple Card because the companies don’t take Apple Pay.
Card History:
11/8/20 $2100 Starting Limit
5/24/21 $1250 CLI ($3350 new limit)
4/20/21 Wife Approved for Apple Card $5500 Starting Limit
6/27/21 Merged Card with wife ($8850 new combined limit)
2/4/22 $2000 CLI ($10,850 new limit)
6/22/23 $3000 CLI ($13,850 new limit)
Congrats on your CLI & thank you for the very informative DPs, will keep the util details for sure when it comes to asking for a CLI.
I had no idea they would merge accounts like that, good thing to keep in mind too.
You mentioned that you weren't using your Apple card because some companies don't take Apple Pay, do you not have a physical card to make purchases?
Or have you not utilized the random virtual card number they offer?
Congrats on very nice increase on your apple card, enjoy it have fun.
Congrats on your Apple CLI!

I think OP just doesn't use the physical card because it is only 1% CB. I've never used the physical card myself just for that reason. The opportunity cost with using it isn't worth doing just for a possible CLI.
Nice. Congrats!

I understand that point, as the OP mentioned it but the OP specifically also stated the companies don't take Apple Pay, hence why I asked them to clarify that part.

@Catbird_Seat thank you and also you're welcome!
Yep you can merge cards with any Apple Card holder who is a part of your "Apple Family". If the person isn't in your family yet you'd need to invite them and have them join before trying to merge cards.
I have the physical card. What I meant is I have cards that give above 1% and I haven't been willing to leave money on the table settling for 1% which is what using the physical card would get me, when I could get 3% to 6% for the same transactions just by using one of my other cards with better multipliers. For example I could pay my utility bills with the Apple Card and get 1% back or I can pay with a different card and get 5%. It's just a matter of personal preference.
