So it's been 10 years and my BK 7 (filed 11/2004) is finally dropping off my credit reports and I am planning to apply for the AMEX Delta Gold to get the 50K mile sign up bonus Delta offered me (I usually fly Delta). I pulled my CRs on 10/24 and Experian & Equifax no longer show the BK 7, but it is still showing on TransUnion. The TU CR says that it is scheduled to drop off in 10/2014, and since it hasn't happened yet, I suspect that it won't happen until Halloween (which I guess is their trick or treat for me
).
As it stands my credit scores look good to be approved with a decent CL (I used to have an AMEX charge card but paid it off in full and closed the account 2 years before the BK, so it was NOT included in the BK):
Experian FICO 807 on 10/24/2014
Equifax FICO 799 on 10/24/2014; FICO 713 on 8/2013
TransUnion FICO (Discover) 701 on 10/16/2014
The BK 7 seems to be hurting my TU credit score on the order of 80+ points (in addition to being a red flag). I understand that AMEX usually pulls Experian, but I'm concerned that they might pull TU (especially if they triple pull) and they either deny me or give me a Mickey Mouse credit limit. Unfortunately, the offer ends on Nov. 2 (and I don't want to wait and only get the 30K miles bonus offer). So my plan is to apply on Nov. 1 and hope that TU has deleted the BK by then, and if AMEX uses a slightly older CR, I can request that AMEX pull a November CR. Is this a good strategy? Thanks.
Amex pulled EX When I applied for the Delta Gold.... I believe that Amex pulls EX most of the time..
AMEX overwhelmingly pulls solely from EX for new apps. I'd say go for it.
Also, you should give TU a call and tell then that your BK is due for exclusion this month. There should been a phone number on your CR, or you can find one in the "Helpful Threads" sticky thread. You might even have the option to dispute online. There's no need to wait around for it to fall off.
Incidentally, there's people in the 660s on EX that get approved for Delta Gold. Even if all CRAs still reported the BK, you'd very likely still get your AMEX without issue.
Thanks for the replies.
So I applied last night (after the last possible day for my BK to be listed on my CR) and got the dreaded:
... ... ... Application Pending Further Review (will notify you within 14 days).
This morning, I received an email from AMEX stating that I was approved! I set up my online account and the initial credit line is $6,500. I was hoping for something closer to $10K but I can wait for 61 days to request a CLI.
