Decided to app for a few cards this weekend... first card was Chase Freedom since it seems to compliment my Discover It well (the 5% categories do seem to differ about half the time). I got the 7-10 day message and after calling the backdoor number, I am told that my app requires me to call the verification department. Since Monday is MLK, I have to wait until Tuesday. So I wait...
I then decide today to apply for the Sally Mae card. This is a card I've had my eye on for a while since I spend around $250 each on gas and groceries a month. So it fits my spending habits well. I apply and...
Approved for $3000. Was hoping for a World Mastercard, but oh well.
A few questions, though, if someone has more experience dealing with Barclay...
I already have a Barclay Rewards card. As time has gone on, its rewards seem duplicated by other cards(BoA 1-2-3, BCE, and the Duck Card). Would Barclay's allow me to move my CL over from the rewards card to the Sallie Mae, combining the CL and closing the Rewards card? Just something I'm thinking about. My sixth Barclays Rewards card statement is next month and I'm pretty sure I'll get at least a $1000 bump. An alternative I am thinking about is a PC to the Arrival card which everyone seems to love(and I do travel a lot). I may wait a while though because I'd like to make sure I get world status on the Arrival. Any thoughts would be appreciated... maybe there's some possibility I'm not even thinking about.
edit: here's my stats for those who might be interested in applying: Around 750 in all three FICO scores. No baddies of any kind. Around 12% utilization. Around 6 inquries in each CR. 15 months AAoA.
Congrats on your new Barclay's card ![]()
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
Yes they will, just need to pay off the balace first
Congrats
Congrats! Remember you get a $25 statement credit when you make your first purchase! It is a really good card for groceries, gas, and Amazon. ![]()

Congrats!!!! Nice starting limit.
Congrats!! Use it heavy, let balances report and they will auto-CLI in no time. I'd personally take Sallie Mae over Freedom anyways, but I'm sure you'll wind up with both.
I don't think they combine limits, but I may be wrong.
Congrats WTG
congrats
