Auto CLI from Discover!

Logged in to my Discover and noticed I got an auto CLI of 1800! Not a big increase, but I'm still happy Smiley Very Happy

Certainly very unexpected given my balances at the moment.

Statement cut on 22nd with approx 4600 balance out of 9000 CL. Decent usage each month, about 2 to 2.5k on average.

Currently CSP and Freedom are still reported as maxed out, Chase Amazon reporting a couple hundred dollars balance as well, and rest of the other cards are all reporting 0 balance.

I wasn't expecting any CLIs given my current utilization so this was a nice surprise.

I just paid off my Discover and was planning to ask for a CLI next month. Does this mean that my chances of getting a SP CLI is slim to none?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Auto CLI from Discover!

Congrats. I always wanted inquire how did you acquire cards with such high limits. A brief history of your cards would be helpful. Cheers

Re: Auto CLI from Discover!

Thanks!

My limits are average. Several other members have way higher limits than I do, just that some of them do not list what they have in their sigs.

My credit history is about 8.5years. AAoA is about 2 years, I think. I used my US income for most of my card apps (reported >100k when I last applied), except for Amex which my overseas income (low 7 digits) was included as well since they already had my overseas tax docs.

Sorry if I'm long winded, but here it goes:

Got My Wells Fargo (700CL) Bloomingdales (100CL) and Macy's (100CL) when I was 18. Got increases to what it is now. Had 1 30-day late on my Macy's back in 2006 which recently fell off my CR.

Had a Honda auto loan for 15k+, mostly to establish credit history, and paid off early.

Applied for citi a few times, not sure what happened. Never got a letter for denial nor was I approved. I was still on f-1 visa back then so that might have been the reason. Other than that never really did anything else for about 6 years that I can remember.

2 years ago applied for chase amazon, got 30 day message, forgot about it, and received card in mail 3 weeks later with 2k initial CL. It became my primary card soon after. I also applied for Amex bcp at around the same time, instant denial citing high utilization as main reason. I used my cards extensively and PIF multiple times each month, just didn't know that high balances being reported was a bad thing.

Asked chase for CLI last year.

Eventually got my green card, waited a few months, and got persuaded by ex-colleagues to get better cards. Got an auto loan through BMW financial services this feb, and applied for rest of my other cards shortly after. Denied by Amex and approved for rest. Got some sp CLIs on some cards, except for chase which was another hard inquiry.

Got my Amex via global transfer program. Been ACM since I was in HS and got my own Amex back in Singapore as well.

Got an auto CLI on my CSP a couple months ago, and just got a CLI on discover again today.

I think that's bout it.

Re: Auto CLI from Discover!

Thanks a lot!

I was hoping for a bigger increase even if it meant getting a HP. Was getting prepared for ask for it next month. Not too sure how that's gonna work out now and doubt I can get a significant increase since they just gave me one. Guess I'm just being greedy.

I'm still pretty pleasantly surprised they gave me an auto CLI though. Guess I'm doing something right Smiley Very Happy
