BBVA/Compass ClearPoints Visa

Hello friends!

I admit this one was a bit more 'impromptu' than most of my apps, but I didn't want to miss out. I got a pre-qual reservation code in the mail so I was able to apply online.

I applied for the card with the bonus categories in mind; I plan to set my 3X category to 'travel' so my Sam's Club MasterCard will have viable competition... LOL.  I very seldom fly so a card such as the CSR doesn't make sense for me, but I think this will work out well.

There's also a $100 new account bonus if I meet the $1500 spending requirement in the next 90 days, which shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm pleased with the starting credit line; for my profile it's suitable.  Considering the APR range is 12.24% to 30.24% (!) I'm OK with my APR as well (not that I intend to ever carry a balance on this card anyway).

Edited to add:  I'm assuming they pulled EX; as of today it's 757.

Thanks!  Smiley Happy

You can try calling, but I think online apps are limited to people who received a pre-qual mailer.  Smiley Sad

Congrats on a good approval and limit and good apr for a rewards card with a funky bank Smiley Happy...

I really like the cats of travel at 3% with no AF, makes it for a tempting card for people within BBVA footprint.

Glad you went for it Smiley Happy

'grats UncleB!
Awesome SL and APR you got there!
The 3X points based on the category you choose is actually pretty impressive and if I'm not mistaken would be up there amongst the competition!
Dang! Now my trigger finger is getting really itchy! Actually got the mailer as well and been mulling over it a few days now. Just don't wanna end up with a new TL with a toy SL.
What do you guys think of my chances getting a $5K+ SL based on my profile?
New cc TLs : 0/6 ; 0/12 ; 0/24 | HPs EX 3 EQ 3 TU 4 | AAoA 8y1m | UTIL 1% - 4% | $300K+ Total Limits

I'm happy I went for it as well.  I'm hoping that knowing up-front how they can be will help me navigate their 'quirkiness'... LOL!  Smiley Happy

I do hope at some point they get their issues resolved to allow for online apps again - I think this is an interesting card for the right person.  Smiley Wink

+1

Same here. Although card offers coming this way from Compass Bank have been zilch their BBVA Amex Card is been operationally flawless since day one. Plus decent line and APR too. I like mine.

Looks like a good move at the right time for you UncleB with good results! Congrats.

I think taking their apps offline likely but a big damper on applications (especially for those outside the footprint).  Most of the drama with their NBA Amex was ID related, and I can vouch that applying for the ClearPoints Visa today was different from most apps.  They needed my DL state and number, along with the expiration and issue date - not a problem, just not something I've had to provide before.  Other than that tidbit, it was actually a relatively short app.

After all of that, they had also to send a text to my phone before finally giving me the approval screen... and I'm even a previous customer!  Smiley Surprised  (Keep in mind that I also had a pre-qual code that was mailed to my address, and I had to enter the code...)

@CreditCuriosity  was right on the money; they can be quite funky... the good news is that there are other options, and if things don't work out I'll just move on to another issuer (I'm hoping for a good experience, though).
