BBVA Compass NBA Am ex

So I was approved last night for this card. My question is I have not ever had an Amex card before mostly because I could never get one of those pre approvals at their web site. SoI know this is a co branded card but did I just qualify for an Amex Ex card and got my foot in the door with them? Did Amex have anything to do with me getting this card or no. I remeber a couple months ago applying for I believe was best buy/chase and was rejected because they said I had to many chase cards at the time.

Hate to burst your bubble but NO.  This are 2 seperate banks when it comes to co- branded Amexs

Have you checked Amex prequal site? You may have a preapproval

you have an AMEX that's not an Amex.............don't make sense to me either.   BTW got the BBVA amex also last night for 20k......hope there are no surprises from this card since it has an AF

Ecxpa it runs on the Amex network. Just isnt issued by Centurion. BBVA issues it. Two different companies.

It can be a bit confusing when it comes to co-branded products here are some examples:

Chase Amazon = Amazon Tie In but Administered by Chase Bank

AARP card = AARP tie in but Administered by Chase Bank

BBVA Compass NBA = Amex network but Administered by BBVA Compass

Delta Skymiles Amex = Amex network and Administered by Amex Centrurion Bank

Dillards Amex = Amex network but Administered by Wells Fargo Bank

yea......similar to the co-branded Discover Cards.......still doesn't make sense.  But then I guess it is in essence like Visa and MC.......many different flavors

Congrats! on your BBVA Compass approval!

I am so on the fence over this card whether to pull the trigger or not. I almost did last night but i'm not fully convinced of it just yet.
