After reading a recent thread about BECU BTs, I went down the BECU rabbit hole reading everything I could find on here about membership and credit approvals.
1/4 - Joined NWCUF for $20, then applied for membership with BECU through the app.
1/5 - Got an email in the morning from BECU requesting more documents. Used their secure document portal to upload front/back of DL, front/back of SS card, a PDF of my gas bill and a selfie holding my DL. Was painless. Got a congratulations on your new accounts email that evening.
1/10 - Funded the accounts using Venmo bank transfer
1/12 - Made a payment to my Home Depot card to make sure everything was ok.
YOLO'd this morning for the low rate visa (for science) and was approved for $2,500.
I'm rebuilding from a pretty financially disasterous divorce last year and have a ton of new accounts. All cards in my signature except Cap One are within the last 12 months. And suppressed scores from about 40% utilization reporting across my cards from the holidays.
I've been wanting to have a credit union relationship with checking, savings, and a credit card for a while and now I have it! I'll probably change my DD from Penfed to BECU in the next few weeks.
A couple more DPs. I joined Penfed in October, they denied me for the gold card a couple months ago. Also opened a checking account with Wells Fargo in November for a $350 sub.
Pulled TU, 21 Inqs, dirty scorecard no BK but LOTS of late payments and a mortgage modification. Signature is current.
(Edit) Forgot, I reside in Wisconsin and income of $160k.
These forums and all you people are amazing. Thank you
Nice, congratulations on your approval!!
Congratulations on your BECU approval!
Congrats on the approval
Congrats on your BECU Low Rate Visa approval
Congratulations on your BECU approval!!
WooHoo!! Congratulations on your BECU Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂
BECU is ****ing weird with approvals sometimes. They'll absolutely refuse to deal with an old CO that's still reporting, but could care less about serious lates nor the number of inquiries.
Congrats on an approval. Their CLI should be pretty hefty if you're lucky in a few months.
Singledadof3,
Congratulations on your approval with BECU! That's awesome to see. Hopefully you will not have to deal with the BECU verification dept aka the Financial Fraud Department!
