Despite reading about the pain BECU can put one through, the pot at the end of the proverbial rainbow was too appealing--so I threw my hat in the ring.

I became a member of the NW credit association, went online to BECU to apply for membership....and received the message:

"Your application is being reviewed by BECU. We will email you within 2 business days with a decision regarding your application"

Has anyone else received this message ? Any pro tips or tricks here ?

I'm fairly sure mine was instant.  Kept my CC approval silent for several weeks so I wouldn't get the duck treatment if it became the FOTM.

Yes, GirlGeorge, it seems like most of the headaches with BECU were after applying for a credit product--not before.

When you say "kept the CC approval silent"--from who ?

Hmm, wondering if I should call a CSR to check or just let it play out--again, anyone who received this message and knows it's meaning, please let me know...

Kept it silent from the people here.  I live in SC.  We have a Boeing plant in Charleston although I am stil outside of Boeing's footprint while not being an employee of the company.  I got my CC without a hitch and kept it silent for a while rather than put my own account at risk when everyone from this site decided to sign up for an account and try for a CC.

And yes, I'd take the last french fry on the plate we were sharing if I was hungry.  Nobody from the Employment Security Commission ever called me when a good job became available.  They saved the job for a relative or friend.

You will most likely get an email tomorrow asking you for some ID documents and utility  bill. Then you will be approved for membership.

After you apply for some credit products and are approved is when you will have to deal with the financial crimes division - which luckily for me went pretty smoothly.

If you go to check your loan status it should tell you if you are approved.  I got the review message as well but just checked the status and saw the approval.
