So today was an impulse decision. Since the BOA card that I am an AU of was taking a HP for a CLI....The previous limit was 9k, and they were instantly granted 16k. Card opened May 2015.
My parter is the main account holder. Last September I opened an Amtrak and was denied. I had to make it a joint app to get approved.
So since today my partner was already using a HP for a CLI, I went ahead and took one myself so that they would be using the same one for our joint card. Wise move the analyst later said.
I requested 15k, computer approved 6.1k. Called in to an analyst, and she approved the full $15k, matching my Amex ED limit (that is what they said specifically). So awesome! Will get a phone call in 24 hours once it has processed.
I am sure there was probably a few crumbs left on the table for mine but for that I DO NOT care. Totally pleased!
I will be sure to have my better half phone in the next week and see if they can get 20 or the full 25k. If that is the case I think I may want to remove myself as an AU....is that a bad idea? I do not want to irritate Amex or have other banks thinking I am overextending myself.
Great news, a letter is being mailed as well, and my Amtrak joint card can be separated. Just need both signatures. Now the weird thing is....they did not have a clear answer as to what happens with the other side of the account. I want to say they will just close it, but I would also like to think they would still have the same limit and could move that to another card.. All I know is they can open their own amtrak at any time and still get the bonus which is all I care about. So what happens when a joint account is split? Does it cancel one side, or create two separate accounts? I am thinking maybe it converts the coapplicants to the no AF version of amtrak or by me signing it removes the name and account completely from my coapplicant.
Congrats
