Back in With BoA After Burn

TL;DR: Burned BoA 7+ years ago for $1,000, applied for Cash Rewards and declined due to inquiries, counter-offered with unsecured BankAmericard Mastercard for $2,500

I've been banking with BoA since I was 16 and along the way in my sophomore year of college, I acquired a student CC with them. Some hard times and financial mismanagement later, I burned them for about $1,000 after fees and interest. I have maintained a wonderful banking relationship with them for the last 10 years but I haven't dared breath near their CC products.

Fast Foward to 12/18, I decide to pull the trigger on a 3-2-1 Cash Rewards visa from them. I figured if I was blacklisted, there would be no inquiry and at least I would know where I stood with them. Well not only did I actually get an inquiry, I was subsequently declined Smiley Indifferent

So the decline letter came in the mail and I expected that it would say something about our past history but in fact, I was only declined due to recent number of inquiries, which is about right seeing as I've been acquiring a lot of new credit this year in my rebuild. A few days later, I received a pre-selected mailing for their BankAmericard MasterCard which is a rebuilder apparently but it's not secured, it just doesn't have any rewards.

So this morning, I applied for it, got the 30 day pending/referral notice. Called in to speak to a Credit Analyst who so kindly pushed the application through for me with an approval. $2,500, which is in line with my other limits. I'm officially done with new cards, there is not another card that I desire so I can safely garden for the next year without being tempted.

So if you've burned BoA like I have, there is still hope that they will give you a second chance despite their long memory.

Good job, man! Welcome back to the family!

Looks like Bank of America isn't so evil like everyone portrays after all, lol.
