First, a major THANK YOU to Heavenlyflower for posting about her Barclaycard SP CLI and APR reduction. I had already decided that I would not even ask for any APR reductions or SP CLI's from Barclay until the middle of next year, because I didn't want to draw undue attention to my new accounts.
I felt encouraged after reading Heavenlyflower's post and called in on both my Barclaycard Rewards Mastercard and my Apple Rewards Visa. The first time I reached a CS person who did not want to put me through to anyone else. He spouted a script stating if I had SP offers or APR offers, Barclay would e-mail me, blah, blah, blah. Guy swears I have nothing available on either card and says it's all HP anyway. Fun, fun, fun with Customer Service going around in circles this evening.
Called back and got the exact same guy. Not looking good this evening, folks.
Finally I called back and spoke with a girl this time. She started spouting the same scripted info when I asked about my Rewards card, didn't seem to want to transfer me and said she WAS a relationship analyst ( really not true). Something must have popped up on my Apple Rewards card information, so she transferred me.
Spoke with Michael, who was super friendly and looked at both cards. Michael was able to get me:
1) A $2,500 SP CLI on Barclaycard Rewards. Nice. I'm already at 16.9% APR on this card so he could not go lower at this time. He said to check back in a few months. Card is now up to $8,300 CL.
2) A 4% APR reduction on Apple Rewards.
3) A $700 SP CLI on Apple Rewards.** Best of all, this card is only 5 months old!** It's now at $4,200 CL.
4) 5,000 additional Apple Rewards points if I spend $500 on the card in the next 90 days. This would actually be enough for a $50 Apple Rewards card. Probably will not happen, as I have much better rewards cards, but nice offer anyway.
Michael was super nice and thanked me for banking with Barclay's and told me he hoped this made my Christmas nicer. It definitely did!
Recently I also received 0% balance transfer offers on both cards for 12 months and these showed up in my online account, although I'm not going to take them.
Barclay, I do love you. I have a number of cards with higher credit limits, but you really do seem to come through for me in a nice, SP way both for auto CLI and when I ask.
I am posting this for those of us who have a number of recent new accounts to let you know not to be reluctant to just talk to Barclay and ask if you have any APR reduction offers or SP CLI offers. They will not do a new pull of your credit and will just use your last SP.
They will not hold it over your head about new accounts. I have quite a few new ones and they did not say anything.
These offers are already " pre-approved" and are in your account, if available.
It is absolutely worth calling. Just having Michael warmly thank me for being a customer was great. Thank you, Barclay! ![]()

Yes her post was awesome.

I feel exactly the same way. Now that I have the Ring card, which is my favorite of all credit cards, I don't want to attract the dreaded "adverse action" for subsequent new credit which many say is a Barclays hallmark.

Guy swears I have nothing available on either card and says it's all HP anyway. Meanwhile, I know from all we have discussed here that the CS people can't even see this information about whether I have an offer available. Fun, fun, fun with Customer Service going around in circles this evening.

Wow. Nice.

I continue to be fearful.

With my luck I won't get Michael

In my experience, Barclay likes customers to be conservative. I can't speak for everyone, but calling in just to see if they have any offers does not hurt and did not have them look at any information they did not already have from my last SP. ![]()
These offers are already " pre-approved" and are in your account.
And yes, Michael was fantastic! ![]()
Excellent! Congratulations!
