Barclay denial due to short history.

got approved for a discover IT card this Saturday and was buying a ticket for my cousin as a birthday gift. I seen the priceline offer for a card from barclay. Filled it out got a application is under review message. Waited till today to call the back door number to see what was up. Spoke to specialist and before she even started I stated that I was more interested in the apple card after seeing the website and noticing you offer a apple card. She say I would have to reapply for that I said never mind just go ahead with the priceline. She then took said hold on. Came back in 1min and said I had a good payment history etc but they need to see a little more time. I said my cap1 card is over2 years so about how much time does barclay typically like to see? She said there is no predetermined timeSmiley Frustrated what does that mean? So how do you need to see more time if there is no pre-determine timeframe? Scratching head then proceed to tell me my credit looks great just give it a little more time and apply again? What you think I have inq's to waste. That kinda just turned my off from barclay even if we fast forward ten years down the road.  I would understand is they would of said we typically like to see about 3 years are something like that but the excuse I got seem pretty lame after saying I have a good profile then hit me with a sandbag.

TU: 666

cards: Cap1 secured 1200, BofA secured 500, discover it 1500 not yet reporting card sent out today as per welcome email.

Income: 86k

the rep said there is no negatives on my report.

AAoA is probably 1 year as I got the BofA in oct 2013

Re: Barclay denial due to short history.

That's my point exactly that just left a bad taste in my mouth like how is my history to short if there is no pre-determine timeframe then how did you measure my short history? Scratching my head. Gets me even more upset when you tell me my profile looks great. How you butter me up then punch me in the gut?

Re: Barclay denial due to short history.

I'm still fairly new around here but from what i read on multiple Barclay posts and now this, they seem definitely to be a very timid lender especially so with potential new customers.

Re: Barclay denial due to short history.

Maybe call back and try to Recon with a different rep? It can't hurt at this point.. Some brown nosing, maybe a little small talk about building a strong relationship with Barclays and all the good things you hear about them... haha! Good luck

Call back and get someone else you already took the hit. Just don't mention the apple card this time. You may have gotten a person having a bad day. Mention you would like building a relationship with Barclay.

Re: Barclay denial due to short history.

An item to keep in mind, they will have notes on who you spoke with earlier.  So, while you can give it a try, the outcome looks slim..YEMV.  It appears your AAoA might fall short for them.

While sometimes this tends to be repeated around the forums, it's not always about a CSR/analyst having a bad day.  At the end of the day, they also have to manage risk.
