Got a question from my fiance: She wants to apply for the barclaycard for average credit butshe's worried to waste the inq.. currently has four inquires in the past year, and was recently accepted for a cap 1 card with a 2K limit. It hasn't even got here in the mail yet. Her score is in the 680-710 range. Do you think it's worth putting in the app?
Thanks
Just want to share my personal input. I had 10+ inq on TU with only 6 months of credit history at the time I got approved for Sallie Mae, which should be one of the easier cards from Barclaycard. It can be very YMMV I'd say. My buddy who applied the same card, having the same salary and almost the same length of credit history/CL in total, but got rejected.

I was approved for Barclays Rewards with 650 TU on recon. There was concern over some new accounts that were less than 6 mos old. I say go for it. If they say no, then def have her call to recon.
Agreed go for it.
FICO 680+ with less than 2INQ in last 6 months should be an approval provided everything else looks good.
Good Luck. Its a great everyday card!
I would apply for the Barclay Sallie Mae card over the regular rewards card for average credit...
I just got approved with a 598 credit scores and plenty of old baddies on my account. They denied me at first but I called their reconsideration line and got approved. I am guessing with that credit score she should be fine.
And to the other responses I wish I would have read this forum before I applied ... now I have to go research this sallie may card.
wow ... I wish I would have done this just based on the 2500 reward points available .. here is to hoping the Sallie may card is harder to get .... I will believe that anyway since I have already applied for and gotten the rewards card.
