Applied on Saturday Night, received a call while at work today on Memorial Day of all days from Barclays and they left a voicemail telling me to call back because they had a few questions to ask me regarding my application. A little over 2 hours later (Before I got on break and had a chance to call back) I received an email saying I was approved! Super happy with the $4000 limit, I had no expectations and didn't really care and that was more then I thought I'd get approved especially with my BK. Did not expect to get a call or receive a decision on Memorial day, but it was a pleasant surprise!
I've long wanted an airline/travel card and with my CH 7 BK from 2020 all the airline/travel cards that Chase, BOA, Amex, and Citi all offer (I Unfortunately burned City in BK sadly) are all out of reach. I remembered Barclays had an AA card too and saw the annaul fee on Barclays site. I found a different website on Google and saw they had the same offer (50,000 miles after your first purchase) With the annual fee waived for the first year. After seeing there was an offer to have the annual fee waived for the first year I really wanted the card. I searched like crazy all over MyFico, Google, Reddit, etc. reading old threads about Barclays and their DP's because I wasn't familiar at all with Barclays in the slightest and had literally no clue if they were BK friendly or not, and after analyzing my credit report after all my reading & research I wasn't confident but figured I at least had a chance at approval. Two potential dealbreakers I had about my credit report was my TU Fico 8 score that I pulled before applying was 680 even (I read numerous DPs that Barclays primarily pulls TU) and I wasn't sure if that'd be good enough for the Barclays approval or not because it's borderline based on the datapoints I read, and I was reading Barclays has a soft 6/24 rule and I just literally got approved for a different card from MSUFCU (Michigan State University Federal Credit Union) the day before and that would put me out 6/24 so I said what the heck and bit the bullet and applied before the MSUFCU card officially starts reporting on my credit reports, figured I had nothing to lose but a HP, and BAM! APPROVED! And i'm so happy that I did!
I'm still going to call Barclay's tomorrow regardless anyways because I never did return their voicemail haha
