So there's a Bulova Frank Sinatra watch that I've had my eye on for a while. I found it at Belk for 20%. And I saw that you could get another 20% by opening a Belk account. So I did, and I got an instant approval for their MasterCard...but with a sad $250 temporary CL, which was not enough to cover my watch.
I contacted Belk CS, who gave me Sync's CS number for their card; they also suggested I just buy a GC to lower the balance and put the remainder on the new card, if Sync wouldn't budge. I called Sync, and they weren't able to budge. So I used my PayPal Key funded with Chase Freedom Flex and bought a discounted Belk e-gift card. I was able to get the full discount (and some cash back thanks to CFF's PayPal 5% in Q4). I also used Rakuten on the Belk purchase (but I forgot to use it on GC purchase!). So, altogether, I'll probably wind up doing better for all of this, but it was a hassle.
Sync is a strange animal. They were instrumental in my credit rebuild, but, after getting about $90K in credit from them, I was part of their great purge of 2020. However, I got right back in when I got my Venmo VS, and Belk is my 2nd Sync card post-purge. Odd enough, Venmo had no problem instantly handing me $30K, but Belk was hemming and hawing over $250. Oh well. C'est la vie.
UPDATE #1 (10/9/21): It looks like they pulled both TU and EX. Who do they think they are...Capital One?
UPDATE #2 (10/10/21): My actual SL is reporting now...$3,800.
UPDATE #3 (10/12/21): My watch arrived! Apparently, I live very close to the Bulova HQ. Still waiting on the new plastic and full CL.
UPDATE #4 (10/18/21): Plastic is here and I finally have the full SL available. Yay!
