Yesterday I did the online form for an increase on my Best Buy Visa that only had a limit of $300 since 2010! I received the 2-4 hour message and of course I didnt receive a reply back for at least 6 hours. Around 8pm I received an email to call credit services because additional information was needed in order to process my CLI from $300 to $10,000 ( I aimed high since I assumed I was using a hard pull for this request). Once I called I was told that my request would be a soft pull because my current credit report was already on file with CitiBank. I had recently opened a Macys card with CitiBank and Im assuming they were using the same credit report for my CLI. Well with that said, I was transfered to a special department for high dollar increases and underwent a brief manual review, about 2 minutes later I was approved for a credit limit of $5,000!
So what I learned is that CitiBank is not as heartless as Ive heard because they have granted me a total of $12,500 in credit over 3 days and its best to apply for all CitiBank CLI's and new cards within a short period of time because they use the same report for all requests.
Now Im officially going to try to garden for two years!
